ShylockBlogging Sold And A Few Words From The New Owner

Written on April 11, 2008 – 6:56 pm | by Alexandru |

As you know, two weeks ago I launched my browser game, and the time I could invest in ShylockBlogging dropped considerably. So, as the title says, I had to pass the torch to someone else, and I sold the blog to the owners of WhyDoWork.comIt was an absolute pleasure writing here and growing the blog as much as I could, making new friends and contacts. If you want to get in touch with me from now on, you can do it at alex[at]imperialages.com.I leave you now with the new owner of ShylockBlogging.com, to tell you a few words about himself and his plans for this blog.

Hello World!

My name is Matt and I also author whydowork.com/blog. I’ve been working online for over seven years and have had some great experiences. Anytime a blog gets sold I’m usually pretty apprehensive on the results. Take a look for instance at the CashQuests.com sale. Traffic plummeted, and the majority of subscribers (including myself) dropped the feed from our readers. Are all sales a bad experience?

Turnover is a Good Thing

Think about the total number of blogs in the world; it’s in the hundreds of millions. Blogs are personal journals and an outlet for an author to share ideas, which is very often a personal experience. This is why it’s often difficult to adjust when they change hands. Can we expect all blog authors to hang on to their sites and publish for the rest of time? While I wish it were possible, it’s not.I’m not here to replace Alex; we’re different people and we have different writing styles, thoughts, and opinions. What I can promise is that I’ll share with you all that I know about making money online, continue to support the Shylock Adsense plugin, and have some fun in the process. If that sounds like something you’re interested in, stick around! :)Cheers,Matt

Hey, congratulations on the successful sale! Did you create a new website for your gaming venture?

Matt, welcome. I am looking forward to reading your posts.

    Hey Charles,

Thanks for the welcome. We’ve migrated over much of the old content to our existing blog @ whydowork.com/blog so I’ll likely post future updates there.

If you’re interested in strategies to grow your business and/or make money online, we’re legitimately interested in helping.

    Thanks for the comment!
    Matt

    @ taylor:

This blog will be kept open, but all of the talks and insight I have on making money online will be posted on the other blog.

If you click most of the links here, you’ll see we 301′d most of the content to the other blog.

    @ homebizseo:
    Thanks :)

As a person who dabbles in selling blogs as a primary means of income, congrats to the new owner, you’ve done well.

Also, congrats to the seller..I watched the auction on Sitepoint and nearly bid on it, but I’m more of the seller type :)

Best of luck to both of you in your ventures :)

Hey Ryan thanks for the comments.

I’ve been writing a series of posts on whydowork.com/blog on how to effectively buy blogs…maybe that will make you more of the buyer type! ;)
